Rush - Vapor Trail

If you are familiar with the family tragedy Neil Peart went through, this one is very dark and sad.

quote:

Jeff Buckley - what will you say

While a cover song, this is spot on. You feel his pain when he sings this, and you can tell just how personal this song is to him (Tim Buckley, his father, OD'd when Jeff was a kid)

Nick drake - Place to be

great choice as well. Drake was so damn talented.

I'll add The Killers - Dustland Fairytale to this list. While not completely on topic as this is not a tragic artist, Brandon Flowers wrote this about his mom dying of cancer. It's such a beautiful representation of the battles cancer patients must endure as well as the desperation of him not wanting her to die.

Everlast - 65 Roses

About his girl who had cystic fibrosis.

Linkin Park - One More Light

Tragic in its irony.

I'd probably go with Warren Zevon's Keep Me in Your Heart.

Keep Me In Your Heart

Zevon wrote it after learning of his diagnosis of lung cancer and was the last song he wrote. He was so weak by the time it came to record the lyrics that he had to set up a makeshift studio in his home because he was too sick to go into the studio.

"Shadows are fallin' and I'm runnin' out of breath
Keep me in your heart for a while
If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less
Keep me in your heart for a while

When you get up in the mornin' and you see that crazy sun
Keep me in your heart for a while
There's a train leavin' nightly called "When All is Said and Done"
Keep me in your heart for a while

Keep me in your heart for a while

Keep me in your heart for a while

Sometimes when you're doin' simple things around the house
Maybe you'll think of me and smile
You know I'm tied to you like the buttons on your blouse
Keep me in your heart for a while

Hold me in your thoughts
Take me to your dreams
Touch me as I fall into view
When the winter comes
Keep the fires lit
And I will be right next to you

Engine driver's headed north up to Pleasant Stream
Keep me in your heart for a while
These wheels keep turnin' but they're runnin' out of steam
Keep me in your heart for a while

Keep me in your heart for a while

Keep me in your heart for a while

Keep me in your heart for a while"
