I hate Darius Rucker. And not just because he's black. I find his music to be turrible.

Same here.I don't know why really. I think part of it is it seems like he just hopped genres until hr plugged in the country "formula". Somehow I just don't believe hes ever listened to the best of Patsy Cline on his own
Which shouldn't matter I guess. I saw hootie about 4 or 5 times in high school.They were a local band then

The wife is a big fan, so I've seen him in concert a couple of times.
I enjoyed both shows .. more than listening to him recorded.
Crowd loves when he does some Hootie, which he did both times.
He also covers 'Family Tradition' by Hank Jr. ..says it the first song Hootie and the Blowfish ever played live.
Being from South Carolina, it appears country music really was a part of his early influence / preference.
And let's not forget, Kenny Rogers crossed over from rock to country.
I enjoyed both shows .. more than listening to him recorded.

As a somewhat ashamed HATB fan, I have followed them/him for a while. I read that he actually wanted them to always be a country band but he was actually outvoted by the rest of the band when they were forming.
I saw them at Billy Bob's back in 2005 and they performed 4-6 country covers.
