So I spotted this online and was intrigued and contacted the owner.

Turns out he hand builds guitars about 30 minutes from me and used to work for Gibson.

Even wilder, we both live in the Midwest now but he was born in the same town in the Deep South where I grew up.

Anyway, this thing is a cannon. Built based on a prewar Martin D28, it has East Indian rosewood back and sides (very pretty wood, doesn't show up well in the photos due to reflections).
Torrified Adirondack spruce top, all hide glue construction, and a bone nut and saddle.

It's very cool to own a locally built guitar, he offered to guide me through building one of my own, maybe I'll take him up on it.

Got a local builder here named Larry Crozier, who builds the most fantastic guitars. Some of the most amazing wood you're likely to find. He's got a waiting list several years long, and is in his 80s. I hope I can get one of his used one day.
I do get to go by his shop sometimes and try them out though, before he puts the final finish on them.

What a sweet ride, stellar acquisition I'm sure.

It basically is other than the torrified Adi top and hide glue construction.

Sounds much better than any of the standard Martin series to me though.
