Do it. You won't regret it. Plus Shovels and Rope is the opener. So you could always leave in the middle of Dawes and it wont be that late.

I looked them up after the livestream of Hangout Fest. It took like 2 songs for me to get into it, but once I was, I was all in.

I know, I listed to like 4 songs on youtube before hangout and told my friends that if nothing else was playing we should check them out.
They rocked out live. It was awesome their crowd at Hangout just kept growing as they were playing because they were laying it down right.
I saw a ton of great sets at hangout but theirs was definitely one of the best.

You can always tell which musicians believe in what they are playing. Much easier to make a connection with the band. Those two were sweating and screaming and feeling it the whole time

Thats what made the hangout this year so fun to me, every band I saw saturday and sunday was just really excited to be there and was having a great time. Really made the whole day more enjoyable. Even the big names like Petty and Stevie Wonder.

I will be going to hangout next year. I didn't go this year because I already don't like the sand and didn't feel like sleeping in a hotel with 10 other people.

actually it was a native New Orleans friend that told me but good try.
We both agreed that was not the crowd that showed up last night. Both of the articles I read that talked about Shovels and Rope live shows mentioned "hipsters" in some fashion so it can't be that far off base.
The sound was a little off all night, both bands seemed to be getting a lot of feedback but that said I thought they were both great. Dawes has a phenomenal song write who I assume is the singer/guitar guy. Not really my pace of music usually but the quality of the songs kept me really entertained. Shovels and rope played another great set (same songs as hangout but that is to be expected).

It is one and the same, his brother is the drummer/backing vocals...
I liked S&R... little too on the *hee haw* side of the spectrum for any day in and day out listening... but they have a nice dynamic and the girl has a powerful voice..

I listened to shovels and rope. It sounds like a shittier version of the lumineers but that's just me.
