We caught the Fixx last night at the Granada Theater. The Granada is a great place to catch a band in a fairly intimate setting as it's not very large. The opening "band", Beat Root Revival, was shite (as usual.) A two person folk type get-up with a chick playing a single drum and a guy playing acoustic guitar. I'm not a fan of folk type music. With that said, the chick is pretty good looking. If you're catching the Fixx show somewhere and this band is opening, stay in the bar drinking until the Fixx takes the stage.

The Fixx played the Reach the Beach album backwards, as well as some new obscure darker music. The newer music was pretty good. We were pleasantly surprised. Obviously, they played all of the popular songs, "Red Skies", “Saved By Zero", “One Thing Leads to Another", and “Are We Ourselves?” and many more. Cy Curnin still has a great voice and is a good front man. The rest of the band didn't have much show to them.

All in all, a pretty good show and worth the time to catch them.

Didnt know they were still a thing. Hated that era, but they were the best at it by far.

I chuckled because that reminded me of the descriptions of albums listed in the Columbia House record club ads.

"Toni Basil, Word of Mouth. Featuring Mickey, and many more."

At what exactly? What is "it"?

I live a block behind the Granada and yes, that place is awesome. Just got an email saying the Revord Company is playing there in November. They get lots of great shows.

I live a few blocks south and love being able to ride my bike there. But the sound is hot or miss. I saw King Krule there recently and the sound sucked. I would say 50% of the bands I see there have lousy sound and it's usually the lower fi bands that have intricate melodies. Big booming bass bands sound good.

The whole Flock of Seagulls synth pop keyboard movement. The Fixx were talented and I wore Reach the Beach out. I honestly didn't know they were still around--would buy a ticket.
