I certainly didn't like that, but I didn't hate it near as much as I expected to from your post (perhaps b/c I only listened to about 30 seconds and didn't pay attention to the lyrics)
Sounds to me like the standard thud beat, pompous speak-sing vocal with sparse arrangement that ends up bombastic, i.e. the sound that is so popular today

Good Lord. I didn't think anything could be worse than that new Tim McGraw song or the "chew tobacco, spit" song, but this one might be. But, I only made it through about a minute and a half, so maybe it redeemed itself later, but, I'm guessing not.
