Yet it wasn't really a true BOC song.

Bouchard bros wrote the music though.

Pearlman and Albert Bouchard were the biggest creative force behind it. I just meant that Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom basically had nothing to do with writing it and they are undeniably a major part of the band.

Thanks Roger. I am a pretty down to Earth, type of guy in most ways, but I like country songs that are full of ghost stories and legends, and R&R that is full of violence, voodoo, mythology and monsters and legend. A bit morbid. It makes it much more fun.

I spent all day in the recording studio, and this was absolutely the approach that we took. We got some stuff done that is really different, and we had fun. It might have been a waste of time and money, but we really liked what got done, even if nobody else does.

SOOO many classics already listed. And I've had a few tonight. So I'm just gonna make this quick and leave one of my very favorites. One that so few people seem to be aware of. Except for BOC fans of course...

The Vigil

Love BOC SO much!!!

Murdock penned the lyrics for The Great Sun Jester a fantastic, trippy song

Yeah you right. Great song, and great album too!!! Mirrors is fantastic and completely stands the test of time!! Not one weak song on it.

Love me this one as well.

Last thing then I'm out. Saw some folks in this thread who were at some of the same shows I saw. First time seeing them was with Foghat opening at the Centroplex on Oct. 4th, 1981. Completely blew my 15-year-old mind. Then saw 'em open for Ozzy at the Fairgrounds March 5th, '83. Last good size venue was The Saenger on Canal in March of '84. Have seen them a number of times since then in clubs in BR and here in Jax. Problem is it's been a really long time since they've played here. Seems to be a certain circuit they hit and for some reason they haven't played here in about 20 years. SUCKS!!! I do my best not to miss them if they're around.

If the first album had a little brighter recording it would be way more popular and appreciated than it is. I love the hell out of the early era but I think the debut is far and away the best of the bunch. Perfect songs top to bottom.

Was at both of those shows. Good times!

Man, the freaks were really out at the Fairgrounds that day. That was one of my biggest takeaways.

For some reason the other day I started to listen to some BOC and it hit me that wow this band is totally off many people radar. Sure everyone remembers Don't Fear the Reaper because of SNL but damn they had a great sound and songs. I am thinking of songs like E.T.I., Astronomy and Veteran of the Psychic Wars. Just a great band.
A lot of people know them for their Burning for You also (and it is actually an excellent song - listen to the bassline). I wish the production quality were better, but they are one of my favorites. For off the wall, I prefer Joan Crawford. Even when they tried treacly pop, it was pretty damned good: In Thee

Yes. Good times indeed!!!

My quick story about the Ozzy/BOC show. My buddy and I had our tickets, and he was gonna drive, but somehow that fell through. So we were getting desperate. I asked my dad in the afternoon if I could borrow the car for my friend and I to go "to a movie" that night. LOL.

He thought about it for a little while and finally relented. Last thing he said when he handed me the keys was "If you go anywhere near that Ozzy Osbourne concert I'll have your head in a sack." Still remember it vividly to this day.

So of course I told him we were going to a movie for sure. Went and picked up my friend and away to The Fairgrounds we went. Oh my poor dad. Never had any idea.

Looking back, I'm thankful that we didn't have the cell phone technology then that we have now. And as a parent of two teenagers right now, I'm thankful that we do.

That Ozzy thing at the fairgrounds was the zenith of burnout culture in this part of the world. Ozzy had that ridiculous buzzcut and I think that was most peoples' first chance to check out Jake E. Lee on guitar.

Two of my friends got absolutely annihilated and spent the whole show laid out in the mud. Later they were saying "Man, the Ozzy show was so awesome!" and I was like "What are you talking about? You didn't even fricking see it." I had to position my buddy Roy's head to the side so he could puke and/or breathe or he might've kicked the bucket that day.
