They were never as good as the 80s punk bands such as X or The Buzzcocks.

There I said it.

They aren't a punk band. You can't compare them to actual punk bands.

I like the Beatles. I like the Chili Peppers. I like Kings of Leon.

Since success is what matters to you, I'm guessing you like Lady Gaga, NSYNC, Justin Bieber, Nickelback, and Creed.

Nope, but I don't say they "suck" as in this case. 20 years and multiple multi-platinum albums, including one of the biggest albums in punk/pop punk history is the opposite of sucks.

They are The Monkees of the punk genre. If you don't want to label them punk then they are the Muzak meant to fill the airwaves of tweens who haven't found quality bands to enjoy yet.

I thought one of the guidelines of the music board was that "so and so" sucks wasn't realy encouraged.

Blink 182 definitely have their place in the late 90's music era. They have a few good hits, and frankly that is more than most of the one hit wonders from the late 90's.

Never heard of 'em. They wish they were Blink 182.

This is tough. I loved them 10 years ago, but now that I am older not so much. They did have a lot of Teenie Bopper songs.

While I prefer X, because they are ridiculously awesome, Blink is clearly a pop punk band in the tradition of the Ramones. I don't see what's wrong in a punk band that can also make something catchy (like the Ramones). And while Blink isn't my favorite band on earth, I do think they have more depth than most music snobs give them credit for.

Blink is just a more commercially successful version of the Dickies.
