Billie Joe from Green Day and Norah Jones make an Everly Bros tribute

Pretty strange collaboration. I've heard a few songs on XM and it sounds pretty damn good. Billie Joe has a smooth voice and harmonizes really well w/ Norah, who can't flat out sing. Not saying it's Dookie by any means, but it seems to be an excellent album..

I read about this the other day but didn't get around to posting it. The album is not simply an Everly Bros tribute, it's a remake of every song on the Everlys' 1958 album:
The Everly Brothers - "I'm Here To Get My Baby Out Of Jail"
quote:
Songs Our Daddy Taught Us is the second album by close harmony country/rock and roll duo The Everly Brothers, released in 1958. The album is a selection of songs that the brothers learned as boys from their father, Ike Everly [a well-known bluegrass musician -- K]. Originally released on Cadence Records, the album has been re-released on LP and CD many times, primarily by Rhino and EMI. Music journalist Richie Unterberger notes that the album of traditional music, released at the peak of the duo's commercial success as a rock and roll act, was unexpected and "ahead of its time". Rolling Stone, who awarded the album 4 out of 5 stars, noted that not even Elvis Presley "had the nerve to do an album as rootsy" as this one.

I heard this story on NPR this morning. I'd listen to it the album for sure. It wasn't incredibly compelling, but I'd give it a few spins.

Great. More shitty (Billie joe specifically) covers of classics.

nice. sounds really good from the couple songs i just heard. surprised how not-annoying BJs voice is.
as far as the everly's go, i think this might be one of the creepiest songs ever recorded. its like the soundtrack to a serial killer's psyche.
