quote:We hired them for house parties A LOT. I got to know Cary and Joel pretty well and Kevin ok. Ended up replacing Kevin at Murphy's when he took off to spend more time with the band.
When I was at LSU in 1988 I went to the Chimes to see a band called The Fleshtones (their best record was a great remake of "Ride Your Pony").
The opening act was some band I'd never heard of called... Better Than Ezra.
They were a great cover band. They chose songs I loved that were underground at the time. As time went on, they would incorporate an original here and there. Next thing I knew, Surprise was out. Loved every song. By far my favorite album of theirs.
Tremble is my favorite though.

I'm probably in the minority on this but I've grown to love Absolutely Still. I don't know why.

All very, very good choices. Deluxe and Friction, Baby are easily my 2 favorite albums from them.
Love Long Lost and WWOZ from Friction, Baby.

What are your opinions on this band?
They were awesome when I was a freshman in college and hadn't heard a lot of different types of music. Now they are just a band for teenage girls and thirty year olds that enjoy their old pop music. JMHO.

Their most recent one a few years ago, can't remember the name, was not very good. Their sound just wasn't the same.
Lifetime is my favorite song followed closely by Breathless.

Bands making follow up albums are like movies making sequels. There's usually one or two great scenes, but rarely is the sequel as a whole better.
