Lmao is this a serious question? It’s Lateralus easily

lateralus is more satisfying musically and lyrically. it's superior in every way. that being said, aenima is a fantastic album. as is undertow.

Its really impossible to rank tool albums. they are all absolutely fantastic (unless you are Pitchfork and give Lateralus a 1.8/10 ).
Really it depends on mood for me.
Lateralus is much less angry than Aenema to me. So if i want a more chill album i would pop on Lateralus, but i honestly couldn't rank them

Lateralus is pretty damn good but Aenima is absolutely perfect.
From the first note of Stinkfist to the last note of Third Eye. Even the filler songs with no lyrics like Useful Idiot or Cesaro Summability. Just perfect.

Lateralus is a better album, track-for-track.
Ænima is better at the top, though.
Hell, now that I'm older, I think Undertow might be better, track-for-track than Ænima.
I didn't discover Tool until my mid-30s, about 10 years after they hit big. I've still probably listened to Ænima more, but Lateralus is catching up.

10,000 Days is a much better album than Lateralus.
Lateralus is their least best album.

I like Tool as much as the next guy. I've gone on record as saying Lateralus (track) is the best heavy song of the 21st Century.
But the idea that 10,000 Days is anything but Tool's "worst" (4th Best if you will) album is literally crazy.

Lateralus, 10k days, Aenima, Undertow - in that order.

I honestly can't pick between the two. Depends on my mood I guess. Both are outstanding.

I listened to all 4 today.
Lateralus is just slightly ahead of Undertow - full disclosure, I typically listen to the Holy Gift playlist order of Lateralus and it is a superior album in that format, IMHO.
Ænima is just slightly behind Undertow as well (ETA: Again, though, really strong at the top - Eulogy, 46 and 2, the title track, H.)
10,000 Days is an outstanding album, but just not at the level of the other 3. Right in Two is the real masterpiece track and is arguably a Top 4 or 5 Tool track.
When you do this - listen to the 4 full albums, the similarity to Pink Floyd on structure (if nothing else) is all the more apparent.
Every speck of sound on a Tool album is on purpose. Doesn't always work, but it always fits and is with purpose. "Painting" with music. I don't know if there is a better band working over the past 25 years.
