That kind of thing was supposed to be frowned upon when this board was created. Things have slipped.

That's basically my point. Actual discussion of many things is "not allowed."

So what if someone wants to talk about Nickelback or Luke Bryan or something mainstream? More people in general want to talk about them than the latest release from Cold Squirrel.

It seems impossible for some people to stay out of threads. There is so much negativity here.

which is what makes them "mainstream".

I don't either. But I wouldn't care. I have several Nickelback songs on my Ipod/phone. So what?

I also have lots of blues, jazz, metal, classic rock, pop rock, musicals, classical, old country, new country, swing, bluegrass and zydeco.

I like talking about all of it because it's fun when things are not so negative.

agreed.

the spotify response was a joke.

I admittedly don't know anything about jazz, classical, swing, bluegrass or zydeco. So, i generally avoid those threads.

When my wife drives, I am subjected to the music played on Hits 1 . Every song I hear is worse than anything Nickelback has done.

That's just society in general. People can't figure their spot in life so they shite on everything. It makes them feel better if they can feel above someone else. Whether it's music, food, politics, pickup trucks...people are more "anti" than they are "pro."

That's ridiculous.

Nicely stated.

Nickleback has all the ingredients to be a really good rock band, except their songwriting is abysmal.

Sometimes reading this board, I feel like I'm in the minority of looking for the good in musical styles/bands/acts and seeing the positives each artist brings.

I'm with you. And people like music for a variety of reasons. Hell, it doesn't even need to be liked by many. Nostalgia, melody, lyrics, mood, beat....

There are songs I like for various reasons I know are simple, corny, mass produced. But there's something about it that makes me feel something, and that's what art is supposed to do.

Yeah, I have a whole lot of songs I dig from the 80's that fit into that category.

Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves. I don't like it but I like it because it cracks me up how my sister in law loved it so much.

I loved the video from the Safety Dance and the dancing little people.

No, I read the thread to see people's thoughts, and had a comment that I thought applicable to some of the conversations being had, arse.
