Yeah that was me, and I stand by it.

It's also the reason Nickelback can sell out arenas. Ever think about that? They are a world renowned band, nominated for 6 grammys, 7 american music awards and 11 billboard music awards.

You conveniently left out a big component that blink didn't take themselves seriously at all. Chad Kroeger stops shows because a bird pooped on him. I think Kanye feels that same amount of hate because he takes himself so seriously as an artist.

I personally don't care for Nickelbacks music but it certainly has become the cool thing to do to hate on them almost to the point of irrationality.

So yeah my dissection of what got Blink-182 popular could also be applied to other mainstream bands that had the catchy hits like Nickelback, they sell out shows and make money off their music, regardless of what the couple of hundred "experts" on this board think.

Why are so many people offended by what others like?

This place is more pretentious than the food board.

That's literally the point I'm trying to make. It's a formula.

I just happen to have nostalgic attachments to Blink-182 songs from personal experiences.

What do you think I'm trying to prove here? I already said they're sub par musicians with simple cookie cutter songs.

it's all about what the cool kids think. If they hate it, it must be bad.

Probably not. Try the same logic over there:

I tried Reese's pieces when I was a kid and it was my favorite food. My tastes were validated because other kids like them too. My tastes haven't changed in the last thirty years and I still think that Reese's pieces are the best food in the world and anyone who thinks that I should've grown up since then is a hater.

I'll bet you get a slightly more pretentious response.

Nothing wrong with that, if you have an emotional connection to the music then great. It's all subjective. But don't get defensive when people make fun of it. I loved blink back in the day but I recognize it for what it is and I'm not mad if someone makes fun of me for it.

I wasn't defending my taste in music, I was showing why a band that isn't that talented, or respected musically can still have a product to push. Because there's a crowd for everything, from luke bryan (vomit) to Bieber, and the geniuses at the top of these mainstream labels know exactly what they want pumped into the masses ears.

There are lots of beloved very popular foods over there.

Much of this board is a contest to see who can come up with the most obscure.

Because obviously, if something is obscure (i.e. very few people are buying it) it must be good.

I think we're in agreement here. I just thought it was funny you said it that way.

You're on a board geared toward people who are passionate about music. The music industry has made popular music very bad so people look elsewhere, you think it's pretentious to find stuff you like? How many threads on the food board are about McDonald's? I'd wager not that many because most people who are passionate about food aren't passionate about big macs. You like big macs and that's fine, but don't get all pissy when someone disagrees.

Not many. Canes and Zaxby's are a different story.

Each board has a set of cool kids. If they say it's great/sucks/whatever , that's what the sheep believe.

That kind of thing was supposed to be frowned upon when this board was created. Things have slipped.
