I ran across this performance by The Bee Gees on The Midnight Special from 1973.

While in Tokyo - June 1966 - The Beatles collaborate on a painting, "Images of a Woman"; acrylic and watercolor on Japanese art paper.

If the names correspond with the quadrants, I prefer Ringo’s.

Posting this in the Beatles thread on the basis of who had the biggest nose

It's (Live! at the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany; 1962), owned by Peter Jackson. He's already said that remastering it was one of his upcoming projects.
Based on the AI remastering of the first few mono cuts on the Red Hits Album into stereo, this would be amazing if given the same treatment.

Maybe the most iconic photo of the rock n roll era happened 56 years ago today.

I have recorded a couple dozen Beatles covers from from various relatively unknown performers on YouTube, enough to burn an 80 minute CD. One is this Ellen all girl band rendition of Ob-La-Di, resulting in a message from Paul. She also did a live Penny Lane with her dad's band. Do y'all enjoy covers, or are the original versions so iconic that covers are heresy?

Just start a separate thread for them, so they don't overwhelm this one

George was a dick
I suspect that of all of the Beatles, George was the least cocky, especially after the band's profound spiritual transformation following their pilgrimage to India in 1968 -which was itself an outgrowth of his discovery of transcendental meditation. His songwriting reflects a deep devotion to love, beauty and inner peace beyond work composed by any other Beatle. Ironically perhaps, John Lennon, far and away the most conflicted and prick-ly member of the band, penned the most compelling and famous songs for global peace and harmony.

quote:I don't agree, but if that's true, then it's due to sheer volume of high-quality material. I can't think of ANY that are better than the original. For the Stones and particularly Dylan I can think of plenty.

Don't know how many are great but Louie Louie is right up there of songs covered. From AI
"Estimates suggest that the song "Louie Louie" has been covered over 2,000 times. Some estimates even range as high as over 5,000 versions. This makes it one of the most covered rock songs of all time.
The song's adaptability to various genres, including reggae, hard rock, jazz, and psychedelic, has contributed to its extensive coverage. The Kingsmen's 1963 version, known for its iconic unintelligible vocals, is often cited as the most famous cover and played a significant role in popularizing the song and influencing future covers.
The original "Louie Louie" was written by Richard Berry in 1955. Notable artists who have covered the song include The Beach Boys, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Kiss, Lou Reed, The Grateful Dead, Bruce Springsteen, and Dave Matthews Band."

Newly redone Anthology coming out. 13 “new” tracks and footage.
If you can find it, I would suggest the “Last Lost Beatles Album” that is chock full of bootlegs. 682 tracks. More info.
Also, if you can, find the instrumental versions of their songs, no vocals. Here Comes The Sun is a wonder to hear with no vocals. Some are included in the bootleg I referenced.
