on this day in 1986, the beastie boys released license to ill. fun fact. they wanted to call the album, dont be a f4ggot. it was also the first rap album to hit number one on the billboard charts.

edited for grammar.

I have likely listened to this album more times than any other album by quite a bit. My buddy and I knew every word to every song.

I was in high school when this came out, still one of the greatest. Luckily saw them open for RUN DMC at the Summit in Houston, girls in cages and all, it was awesome!

The one and only time I saw them was at Voodoo '04.

They capped off an evening that ended with

Pixies
Green Day
Beastie Boys

Truly one of the best days in live music I've ever been to.

I got very wasted and attempted to “scratch” this record before my bachelor party. I was no LL Cool J.

Saw them at The Saenger with Fishbone and Murphy's Law. I still have the T-shirt "Get off my Dick".

Slow Ride
Because I'm hard hittin' - always biten - cool as hell
I got trees on my mirror so my car won't smell
Sittin' around the house - gettin' high and watchin' tube
Eating Colonel's chicken - drinkin' Heineken brew
I'm a gangster, I'm a prankster - I'm the king of the Ave.
I'm hated, confrontated for the juice that I have
All the fly ladies are making a fuss
But I can't pay attention - 'cause I'm on that dust

I was there too. What an amazing day. This was the Pixies reunion tour that none of us thought would happen & they were their usual masterful self & I couldn't believe I was actually watching the Pixies live.

If I remember correctly it was originally announced that Green Day would headline that day & then Green Day came out & said there is no way they can headline over the Beastie Boys & voluntarily gave up the headline slot to the Beasties.

Damn I did not know that about GD swapping spots. That is very cool.

By the time Beasties went on, I only had a few people between me and the stage.
