Besides the bass Paul played drums on the song and a smoking piano line during the ending crescendo. John liked to complain about how Paul would meticulously work on his own songs and try to rush John songs to completion but John wasn’t giving that effort on any Paul songs by that point in 1968 almost to the point of sabotage trying to play bass recording the Long and Winding Road during the Get Back sessions.

Paul knocked it out of the park on Dear Prudence. As much as I love Ringo, Paul's drumming and bass was one of the top performances on the White Album.

It’s a really incredible song.

Never knew that was Paul behind the kit on this one. But I did know that bass line was pimp AF. And the guitar fills in the verse after are tasty

definitely a 10.
also a 10 is the bass line on “something” later that year

every bass player who ever played a counter melody is copying Paul McCartney

Paul was/is a master of playing tasteful lines. He's by no means a virtuoso, but he isn't some root and fifth guy either. He knows how to make his lines move without overdoing it.

Paul was an incredible bassist. Listen to him on Rain.

Incredibly melodic.
