Green Day is good for what it is, but what it is is something that really should only relate to someone around the ages of 12-16. It's great for teenage-type angst and being listless. Every once in a while I listen to one of their songs just for pure nostalgia.

Grand Funk Railroad

I still like them but at least now I recognize how shitty they were.

no good comes from Nickelback or Creed

False. Creed - Scott Stapp + Myles Kennedy = Alter Bridge

Some of Tremonti's solo work is pretty good, too.

No, they were never the tightest band, but there's a lot of good songs in that catalog. Still listen sometimes.

I still like More Than A Feeling. Probably nostalgia.

Can't really say I look back and think my taste sucked. I enjoy various kinds of music for different reasons

The responses in this thread remind me why I so rarely venture to this board. So many people shitting on classic bands. Disgraceful.

Nevertheless, here's my entries: I was really into John Cougar Melancamp and Bob Segar as an early teen. I don't hate them now, but I can see that there was a lot better music out there.

A much better thread would be bands that you can't believe you hated so much as a child, but now really like.

I have tons of those. A good friend tried to get me into prog but it was too weird for me for a long time. I hated ELP, Yes, Todd, etc. Then one day something just clicked when I was listening to the title track of the first Utopia album. A whole new world opened up for me at that moment.

I was a HUGE Bruce Springsteen fan in high school and college. Can't stand him now.

Agreed! I still bring the old guitar out and play the power ballads with some youtube late at night when I am hammered!

Good times but I agree that the staying power was not there versus Metallica, Eh Hetfield?, and Megadeth who are still putting out quality music.
