Off the top of my head, The Beatles instantly comes to mind obviously.

Interestingly, Fleetwood Mac members Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie all had top 40 hits as well.
Stevie - Edge of Seventeen
Lindsey - Trouble
Christine - Got a Hold on Me

The Yardbirds and Deep Purple must have - just on sheer volume of folks who passed through their ranks.

Remember those Kiss solo albums from '78? While only one of the band members had a bona fide hit (Ace Frehley's "New York Groove"), Simmons & Stanley barely missed the Top 40. So I guess it technically doesn't meet the OP's criteria, and the non-Ace singles probably charted b/c of payola anyway

Don't forget Bob Welch, from the earlier incarnation of Fleetwood Mac--"Sentimental Lady" remake, "Ebony Eyes".

FTFY. Stevie was an insanely good-looking woman back then, and aged well even into her 50s, all that cocaine damage notwithstanding.
