The Revel Performa3 M106 may be something to look at...around $2k/pair.
Matching stands are available.

If you like the British sound, the new Spendor S3/5R squared run $1595/pair--they require stands as well.

I'll check both out. I like the British sound in my main listening room ( B&W 802D), but I'm thinking I may want something more laid back and smooth for my office. I'm not going to be listening at high volume.

Marco--

ive seen you post about cleaning your records--with a hand held steamer.

Any thoughts on how to clean a stylus? I played an older Clapton record after using my anti static brush on it, but my stylus picked up a ton of lint. I was able to remove it, but is there any method you use or would recommend? I've seen videos that suggest everything from special made solutions to using a Mr. Clean magic eraser.

Day spinnin'...

The 2015 reissue of this classic album absolutely smokes!! Also has a cool a$$ hologram on side 2 when you hold an LED light above it.

Deftones "Saturday Night Wrist", 2006

I really appreciated this album a lot more after hearing it on vinyl, as the CD is a little too compressed for my liking. So stoked for the new one, which is out this Friday!! Top 3 band for me all time. Will be seeing them again in the 504 next month.

I've never really given the Deftones a chance. Where should I start? I feel like I'd like them.

White Pony was their big breakthrough album, though they had a few hits before then.

I was never a huge fan but always enhoyed their music. Looking forward to the new album.

Like the poster above stated, "White Pony" is prob the easiest to digest for the average person. It's when they began to form the sound that they are known for now. It's soft/heavy, it's light/dark, it's silky, yet punishing. Really the perfect ebb and flow. The vocals are very melodic and hypnotic even. I've never had a "heavier" band make me feel what these guys do.

I am pretty partial, however, having meet and hung out with them 3 times in the early days. But their longevity speaks for itself. And same line-up minus the original bassist who they lost in an automobile accident.

Try "Diamond Eyes" also...

Another top 3 band of all time for me...

The Doors "Morrison Hotel", on 200g vinyl, 45rpm, 2LP, Analogue Productions

I have numerous CD releases and reissues/remasters, as well as the whole set of Rhino vinyl releases, but I have never heard The Doors sound like this. Amazing pressings from the original masters. A bit pricy at $50 a pop, but worth it for a big time fan like me.

Here are 2 that I am familiar with...

Onzow Zerodust

and

Lyra Stylus Cleaner

The first is a rubbery gel that you just place under the tonearm and lower the stylus onto the bubble. After a few seconds, lift the tonearm, and Voila...it is clean. Many folks rave about this little gem.

The other is a liquid that comes with an applicator brush. You need be careful to just apply it to the diamond tip, and not the cantilever. This is what I use, but it came with the Lyra Titan-i cartridge when I bought it.

To my knowledge, both work well. I clean mine every 100 sides or so--don't get too caught up or obsessed with it though.

I use the first one to get the thicker stuff off, and then the liquid (just one drop on the end of the brush) to loosen the film/residue that builds up from the diamond tip sliding through miles and miles of plastic groove...then do the Onzow Zerodust a second time after the needle tip dries (about 10 minutes).

OK...so I just started playing around with my new Canon EOS T5i DSLR, and this is the first high resolution picture I have taken and uploaded, so let's see if it looks a little sharper than the usual iPad photos I usually upload...

Listening to this now...

Pretty heavy, but I'm digging it. They are very talented, and the production on the songs I've listened to is great.

Sweet!! Yes, it's heavy, but its also very melodic, raw, and emotional.
Check out "White Pony" and "Koi No Yokan" also if you're interested in hearing more...

Deftones "Gore", their 8th studio release that came out today.

After 3 spins, I'm really loving it. These dudes never disappoint and always bring it!!
