So I took Marco's advice and did the granite slab/vibrapod isolation deal, and man, what a difference did it make! Had a day off yesterday and I must have spun 6 or 7 records. I couldn't stop listening and couldn't get over how much better my table sounded. All for under $70. Got the slab cut and finished for $45 and four vibrapods for $24. I previously had upgraded the stylus and added a speedbox, but this was the best (and cheapest) upgrade yet. Isolation is key! Thanks again bro!!

Great to hear!!

Every few pages in this thread I preach the merits of isolation, and the fact that the single best tweak for just about any sub $5k turntable will set you back less than $100.

You have done it and have seen immediate results...I hope others will follow.

Post some pics of the table atop the granite slab if you can--I bet it looks fantastic!

Looks solid. What size slab of granite did you need?

This one is 18.5'' x 14''. It's hard to tell from the pic, but I have an inch or so over on each side. This with the pads underneath made a big difference in sound quality...

I have a spare chunk of granite left over from when I had my outdoor kitchen built. I may just have it cut into 4-5 15"x18" slabs with a double bevel on 3 edges. It is the thicker 3cm slab of granite.

I figure I can order a bunch of VibraPods with the Project Debut 3 or the U-Turn Orbit in mind. I can sell them as "ready to go upgrade packages" that use the correct arrangement of Vibrapod feet for the combined weight of the slab and whichever table one is using.

The VibraPods are pretty cheap, so I can order a bunch and mix and match them if someone wants a slab/pod combo for a table other than ProJect/U-Turn.

What says the vinyl guys here?

If I have about 6 slabs cut and do a slab/VibraPod combo that is already weight matched for popular tables and sell them for my cost--probably around $70 or so, would there be any takers?

Hell, I can even have them done in a few different colors/patterns of granite!

Who would be on board if I made this a reality?

I can probably have this project done in about 2 weeks.

I'd definitely be down. Although I'm not sure how much shipping would be using USPS.

I'm also getting into the e-commerce business world. I've got a good buddy who builds sites. If you ever have any ideas for new turntable products/ways to sell existing products, let me know.

I have a U-turn orbit and I would definitely be in for one if you decide to pursue it.

I don't think I would ship them anywhere--it would be too heavy and fragile. I just figured that I would make a few of these tweaks that were ready to go, charge my cost for the granite and Vibrapods, and let whoever wanted one pick it up from me.

It was more of a way to help beginning audiophiles than trying to make a buck--I would have no profit in it. I enjoy doing it.

I have a debut carbon, and would definitely be interested.

Also, Thanks for the recommendations for the shops to work on my receivers!
