Well thanks man!

Take a look at VPI Industries website--they have a new table in the reference series--it's called The Avenger. It looks like it will be replacing my model (I have an Aries 3 with all the extras).

It has a pretty aggressive look for a record player--pretty bad arse really!

Their entry level tables are quite solid tables. I would be hard pressed to leave VPI for another table under $30k--their stuff is that good.

I will also keep my eyes open for an integrated amp that may suit your needs for under $300. Are you OK with used gear?

I may have found a pair of white speakers too--just checking on the price now. If they come in at $300 or less, I will link you to them (I don't want to post now and get your hopes up, and then find out they are $1k speakers! )

First up tonight is one of my all time favorites, The strokes - is this it. Undoubtedly their best album, it features the classics 'last night' and 'someday'. This artwork is the original European cover and includes the song 'New York city cops' which was removed from the US release out of respect for the NYPD after 9/11. Hands down my favorite album cover ever. Such an awesome album that helped usher in a new generation of garage rock.

Oh well thanks for that! My friend actually gave me this set up here LINK as payment for driving him too and from the airport. It was actually still sealed inside the box. They aren't great obviously but should be fine for now. I want to do the granite slab thing next while I build up a (very) modest collection for a couple months.

Now if only the darn table would ship

Time for some Pink Floyd - ummagumma. Needless to say, my 3 month old daughter is quite upset by some of the noises emanating from my speakers.

I wish my setup was as photogenic as yours . I'm relegated to a tiny corner in the living room.

It could have prob benefitted being a double LP bc of the album's length, but still in all, it's a pretty nice re-issue. Worth the buy...

Ascension Granite and Marble in Gonzales. Took about a week bc of how small the "job" was, but for $45 all finished and all...

Great record--you inspired me to pull mine out...

Prince--"Purple Rain"...Warner Bros. Records 1984...Promotional Copy on purple vinyl.
Notice the gold "Lent for Promotional Use Only..." imprint.

The purple vinyl was only released in Scandinavia and Japan (also pressed in Scandanavia and Japan). The only purple copies released in the U.S. Had the gold imprint "for promotional use only..."

The promotional album also included a purple 45rpm of "When Doves Cry"...
