Sweet!
Played the first SRV record in the set a little bit ago... it sounds great and is dead damn quiet, even on my setup.
Had the knob at about 2 o’clock! Need to listen to it on your rig Marco!

The Donald Fagan LP in that series is possibly the quietest, blackest background of any LP I own. As you know, everything is first rate in this series—from mastering, to cutting, and then over the top packaging....but they ain’t cheap!

Had that Nach cassette deck in college. That was 30 years ago. Can’t remember what happened to it. Still have a Nach tape head de-magnetizer , but got nothing to use it on anymore.

Wow—helluva tape deck for a college kid!...they were $1850 back in 1987....about $4100 in 2019 coin.

100wpc Yamaha amp and some Savard's that were knock offs of some Klispch Hereseys. The folks downstairs at the apartment complex hated me.
Got out of school and got some LaScalla Professionals for $700. Neighbors hated me.

Just watched that latest fremer vid, and decided to finally pull the trigger on a Beethoven box set. This came in on Friday. Been working my way through. So far so good.
I could never find out where this was pressed. Says “made in Germany” so I’m assuming Optimal or Pallas. Marco you know where DG typically presses their releases?

It depends...they have pressed in the U.K. as well as at Phillips in Holland. As far as Germany, I believe they are now pressing in Berlin, but I don’t know where.
They merged with Universal sometime in the late ‘90’s, so they could also be using some of UMC’s plants as well.

Marco,
Thoughts on Bryston amps? I though highly of them when I worked in a hifi shop a long time ago. There’s a pair of 7B ST monblocks for $2200 on Audiogon I have my eye on. 600 wpc should drive Dynaudio’s nicely.

Beginner set-up:
ELAC speakers.........$250
Project ‘table.............$350
PS Audio Sprout integrated amp with DAC & MM phono stage....$600
Good stuff but looks like that dude wanted something for $500 or so, so here’s what I would say:
Good quality vintage turntable $100-150
Art DJ preamp $50
Parts express C note speaker kit $100
Refurb denon receiver $150 (or any stereo receiver really)
Cables and stuff to finish speakers $50

I never recommend vintage to a noobie—I explained all the reasons why about 100 pages back in this thread.
It is extremely difficult to build a decent rig where amp, pre, speakers, table, and cables are all needed, for under $1200 (if someone else wants to piecemeal something together, have at it).

Bryson is well built gear and a great value...also has the best warranty in the business.
Go for it.
Go for it.

Marco, what is your ritual for listening to music with all of your top rated equipment?
Im assuming with the rigs that you have, you dont just have it on in the background while you are doing something else.
Im assuming that if you have something that high end, you basically sit in front of it and listen to an album like you were sitting on the couch watching a movie, with zero distractions.
How do you take in your music?

Marco:
I wanna burn some of my CD catalogue onto a Mac Mini. Would you suggest buying an affordable DAC ($25-$100 range) or is this an item that makes a great deal of difference? Would I have to sink a lot?
What should I be looking for?
...and yes, I can solder.

If your Mac Mimi has a CD drive, just rip lossless right into iTunes. If no drive, get a portable USB drive, plug into the Mini, and rip into iTunes..
