Any must-see historic venues?

I don't really mean Fox Theatre type places, but older smaller music venues.

Friends and I are probably mainly interested in Americana, Southern Rock, Alt-Country and all that jazz. Any recs?

Haven't fixed date on the weekend yet, so I'm willing to look at event calendars and see who they have coming up.

Thanks in advance.

ETA: Chattanooga may also be somewhere on the agenda.

Just saw Lukas Nelson and Nikki Lane at Variety Playhouse last week - cool venue that seems to get some great acts in the vein of what you're looking for. Not from the area so no idea if it's 'historic.'

Tabernacle is tight. Chastain park is great.

Go to the beltway and rent a bike and check out all of the bars. Ladybirds is pretty cool. Riding a bike after being at a few bars was always fun. Great scenery.

Thanks for all the suggestions everybody, will check them out and look to see what's coming up. Tabernacle looks like a cool place just to see.

Ladybird is on the beltline near Inman Park .... there is talent all over the area (Krog Street, Inman Quarter etc).
