Check out Jake Xerxes Fussell.

Got an email from Good Records with a blurb on his debut album. I have been listening to it and it's pretty good. Kind of a simplistic style, which I would associate with Sturgill and Justin Townes Earle. Kind of blues type lyrics but it doesn't sound like traditional Blues.

Album is on Spotify, FYI.

I liked Harlem River so much I kept an eye out for other songs, and have not liked any of them.

He kinda sounds like the guy Tallest Man on Earth gone completely honky tonk country. Not bad, but not great IMO. I'll have to give him another listen before I can really judge, though.

Oh he's much better than TMOE in my opinion, vocally at least. TMOE sounds like someone striving to do a bad Bob Dylan impersonation, although I did grow to like some of his stuff.

I like the music for this guy a lot on a first listen, but I don't know that it'll be something I listen to frequently. I'm the same way about Simpson and JTE though, I respect and like what they do, but it's not something I really want to jam out to.

Much more of a Roy Orbison vibe, but Christopher Denny is kind of a cool throwback as well:
