Anyone watch Rick Beato's youtube channel? A friend recently introduced me to it

What makes this song great? (Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction)

Essentially he breaks down different songs and isolates the different tracks and talks about them and plays along sometimes.

This particular episode is a pretty good primer. I could watch stuff like this all day. Definitely makes you appreciate the complexities of songs like this that on the surface sound relatively simple.

Yeah - I subscribed because someone on this board turned me onto it.

I love the way he breaks down songs and recording

Yeah as someone not familiar with the production process I find it pretty interesting.

I've only watched that one and the Master of Puppets episode so far

Yeah, I’ve been linking him on here since a music friend hipped me to his channel. Great breakdowns, and he’s quite a good player himself.

His episode on Kid Charlemagne and focus on Larry Carlton’s solo is very cool.

Yes, it's great stuff. The show he did on the song Rosanna was mind blowing.

Most of Beato's stuff is over my head but I watch anyway hoping to absorb some of it. The "What makes this song great" series is excellent. Some other similar channels:
Rhett Shull
12tone

Been a subscriber for a while now. I really love the one he did recently on Failure, but I try and watch the theory stuff, even if I don't get a lot of it. He's entertaining, knowledgeable, and informative.

Ditto. I like the one by Emerald City Guitars too. They have some amazing vintage guitars and gear they showcase.

This channel is great. I love Beato's stuff. There's a bass guy, Adam something, that does a lot of great stuff about bass and music in general.

#1 Rick Beato fan here.

Graduated to Beato's YT streams from Song Exploder, on which I still check in now and then.

One of my favorite channels for music related info. Dude knows music theory pretty well too. Does some whiteboard presentations on cycles of fifths, Nashville method for chord charts etc. I dig the channel!!

I ran across this video of Rick and Tim Pierce breaking down Larry Carlton's solo in Kid Charlemagne.

MT, if you haven't seen it already you'll appreciate Beato interviewing Carlton just a few weeks ago. You can see the twinkle in his eyes when he corrects Beato about his one fingering mistake in the original video.

Anyone correcting me would say "you picked up the guitar in the first place".

Dang I always made that chord the same way Beato did. I'm not sure my hands are big enough to do it like Larry.
