I've seen them once in concert about a year and a half ago, and it was about 2 months after I even knew they existed. Like most, I got started with KILAS and PFNO and fell in love, but at the concert they only played like 2 songs total from those albums with the rest being from their recently released album. That of course makes sense, but I also thought someone said that without one of the extra band members (I guess they are down a guy? I don't really know a whole lot about them honestly) some of the classics wouldn't be feasible to play.

Anyways...they are coming back to atlanta in April and I would very much like to go see them, and most likely will. But my question for those that have seen them in the last ~6 months is is it still mostly songs from their newest album or do they mix in more from kilas/pfno?

I have seen them five times between 2008-2016. Usually they only play 1-2 from PFNO and maybe 2-3 from KILAS. Every time they have closed with an extended version of Carry the Zero.

You can check their most recent setlists here

They are coming to NOLA with Afghan Whigs. I really want to go, but so much has to line up right for me to make a show anymore.

I've seen them 3 or 4 times but a couple of longtime members of the band quit a couple of years ago and I think the band is just a trio now rather than 5 guys. I'm not sure how this affects their sound but I'm sure you could find some recent live shows on youtube. They are playing here in Dallas but at House of Blues which I hate so I probably won't go see them. Tix are expensive too....about $45 after fees and that's too much IMO......I usually pay $15-20 to see them. And I'm not a big Afghan Whigs fan so i'll just wait for BtS to come back around on their own

Saw them about a year ago (maybe longer) in BR. I’ve been listening to them for a long time now and that was the first time I’ve seen them live. It was ok, but as a trio it’s just not the same. Vocals were great, but band just sounded empty. We had a thread going on here during the concert and someone said (paraphrasing) “I enjoyed the show, they sounded pretty good, but I’ve never seen a band so disinterested during a performance”. That pretty much summed it up for me. I’m going to pass seeing them in NO.

That's how they have always been....I have a theory Doug Martsch is such a dick he sucks all the joy out of whoever he is playing with. But the music and sound was/were so good I didn't care. One time, Brett Netson, one of the guitarists, broke a string. Usually when this happens a guitar tech will hand the guy a new guitar and the show will go on. But Netson stopped the show while he changed the string himself on stage. No fricks Were Given.

I was wondering the same thing. I don't really want to see them if it's still a trio. One of the last times I saw them was when they had 5 people and they sounded awesome. This was one of those shows (soundboard recorded and video).

During SXSW that year, almost every song was from KILAS, PFNO and You in Reverse, my favorite of their albums.

great to know, they definitely had 3 when I saw them. I looked at that setlist website which is a great resource but doesn't say anything about band memebrs. Any way to know how many guys they're currently touring with?

If Doug doesn't mention anything in an interview, then we'll probably know once the tour starts. There will likely be video on youtube of some of the first shows.
