So why aren't they providing halftime performance? or Green Day?

Better yet, Moby Grape!

There were some problems with the sound of the instruments, but James' voice was in great form. I always wonder how the sound guys set their levels. Do they pick a point in the audience where everything is optimized, or do they optimize for front of stage?

You were there or this was just from the live stream?

I'm not sure, but outside venues definitely do better for their sound in my experience.

Best concert I ever saw was 94 in the Pmac at LSU. Played 3 solid hours of the good shite

You're probably talking about June 1992.

Great new stage show & good sound. Being back home in San Francisco, I just wish they would have done an all 80's set list with a few thrown in from the Black Album just to make the women happy. A Metallica show in the 80's might have been the greatest musical display ever seen. They were that good back then.

I missed the Damaged Inc. tour but caught them in '89 on the Damaged Justice tour with The Cult opening. Went mainly for The Cult but Metallica as well. It was pretty awesome. Lots of energy.

I saw them open for Ozzy in '86 on the MoP tour. It was great, but I've never known them not to be great. I guess that's what comes with being the greatest band in the world.

I saw Metallica several times in the 80's. After replacing Dave Mustaine they had something very special. They played this aggressive style, and their songs had themes of anger and alienation, but at the same time you could see they were really having a good time performing them. It was magic.

I don't think they were having as much fun after the Metallica album and touring.
