Again, good luck finding someone to jam with.

You're doing pretty much the opposite of this. You describe others tastes as boring, generic, etc...and the whole get laid/sex thing is something every 15-21 year old guy thinks about when he jamming on a guitar.....because that's what 15-21 year old guys do.

Dude, no BS, the number of original musicians in the Baton Rouge area is not even 100 people total. There's roughly 20-30 guys who make up all of the rock bands in town, about 20 jazz musicians and horn players who collaborate, and about 30 singer/songwriters (25 of which are over the age of 40) playing mostly Americana and folk. There may be 10 synth composers in town period. This isn't New Orleans. It's not a big music town. Those what do play mostly do covers of swamp pop, blues, or 80's music because that's all bars will pay people to do.

Or those who feel the need to make up things like "guitar players get laid, while keyboard and synth players don't."
First of all, it's not made up. And second of all, that was submitted as an answer for your question of why there's not as many synth players. While most musicians play music in general due to a love of music, what instrument they choose sometimes has more than a love of music as a secondary factor. I was just positing that as a possible reason why more people play guitar than synth.

You have done nothing but bash other people's taste in music since you got into this thread. Music is a great unifying force, but it is also very subjective. Everyone has different tastes, so it is inevitable that you're going to come across ridicule for liking (or not liking) different things. It's a rite of passage among musicians. I get made fun of for liking Foo Fighters. Other posters get made fun of for being obsessed with Phish, Widespread Panic, or Disco Biscuits. If you can't take that kind of ribbing with a little humility, you will never earn the respect of your peers. In fact, by rejecting them the way you did, you pretty much ensured that the only reputation you'll have, is that of an insufferable, inflexible, ungrateful douche, and because of that, I have no interest in working with you. It has nothing to do with your style of music or your choice of instrument, and entirely to do with your attitude.

You play lead guitar? Our lead guy's graduating and all his job offers are out of state.

Will you STOP stereotyping people. NOT EVERYBODY is like that. Plus, I'm trying to reach the later 20s and 30s range. Not the immature minded teens and guys who just turned 20 and who have sex on the brain all the time.

Yes, but if they thought that way when they were younger, while choosing instruments, it probably has a significant impact on what instrument they still play to this day. Every instrument I play today I learned to play (at least as a beginner) before I turned 18.

Nah, bass. Plus I've got a little one that's taking up 95% of my free time these days.

NP, man. Hey, at least you have physical evidence that your bass playing possibly got you laid at least once

Stop giving me all the statistics about what bars allow and all this stuff. The people I'm trying to reach aren't going to be the types who currently play at bars, and clubs in the Baton Rouge area.
These are going to be guys who merely go to a local college, or work a part-time job in retail here in Baton Rouge, and then head home to practice their keyboard and/or guitar. This includes some harder rock songs, some synth ballads, some acoustic guitar ballads, and everything in between.
This is NOT going to be some dude who acts like a highschooler and who feels the need to be a rocker who thinks about sex all the time, and who feels the need to show his aggressive side by bashing on other genres that are not hard enough.

My wife hates when I jam out in the bedroom. I blame her for killing my music career
I play my acoustic a lot more these days

See, we currently have a spare bedroom which we use as my band's practice room among other things, but she still gets mad when I play when she's home sometimes.

Same. It's just not the same, though, especially since my acoustic has a wide neck and doesn't have a cutaway.

Where are those people who will GET their mind out of the gutter, and stop combining sex and music. They should be separate. The guys I'm looking for would be the ones who keep that to themselves, and who might even be married, and get it regardless of the instrument they play.
Or maybe they are single guys who's priority ins't trying to attract all the ladies. I'm trying to reach the smart and nerdy musicians.

Stop stereotyping us man!

Let me clarify, I also have all of my stuff in the spare bedroom, but it doesn't matter. I look forward to her shopping afternoons (and take the baby) so I can turn my bass or electric up full blast and shake the walls.

"See, we currently have a spare bedroom which we use as my band's practice room among other things, but she still gets mad when I play when she's home sometimes. "
Again, I can't take you seriously as an educated and talented player when you bring up crap like that.
And remember, I'm trying to reach those who DO NOT play in any bands and are NOT part of any music scene in the Baton Rouge area. Just your laid-back college student, or part-time worker who just HAPPENS to share some of the same music I enjoy and would like to work on some songs in various genres of rock.
I'm tired of coming across these people who are into one flavor of rock: 90s heavy metal, and hard rock. I want to find those who run the gamut of the different styles heard on 96.1 The River, and modern rock radio. Which includes the more unique artists.

You can't take him seriously because his SO gets mad when he plays in his spare bedroom? And you're tired of hearing people like 90s rock....Bc 90s rock is awesome. Stop bashing!

So, come on, let's see some new faces. And some better attitudes. Let's see those more sensitive rockers. Those who know how to spread their aggressive tendencies but in a more mature way.

Da f&%k, man? That post wasn't even directed at you. You can't take me seriously as an educated and talented player when I say my wife doesn't always like me making lots of noise when she's home? What's wrong with you, man?

I already told you, the numbers are not in your favor. Baton Rouge's original musician scene is very underground. Those who are in their dorms making beats don't always know about it, and until they get involved in it, it's hard to find those people. Limiting your search to those strict criteria is basically ensuring that: A. your hypothetical perfect candidate doesn't exist; B. if they do exist, you'll never find them; and C. if they do exist, and you just so happen to meet them they will be so repulsed by your attitude that they won't want to work with you.
For the love of Jim Morrison, relax and lighten up, Cliff!

" Baton Rouge's original musician scene"
Stop bringing up the original Baton Rouge music scene. The guys I'm trying to reach are NOT going to part of said scene. I don't care about what those guys do.
I'm looking for those guys who are the opposite of what I've seen in this topic and Baton Rouge Rocks, and Craigslist.
I'm looking for those who are humble guys, who just love a variety of music, and who have a talent playing guitar, or keyboard, and who can help me start writing my own songs, while working on some pop covers here and there.
I'm looking for those guys who are well brought up and behaved young men, those who don't do drugs, or drink heavily, those who have a high-self-esteem, those who don't give into peer pressure to do something because it's popular.
