I'm new to the music board so forgive me if a repeat topic--I did a search and only found 2 brief mentions

I am a huge fan of the Mavericks. Have seen them perform live multiple times and they really put on a fabulous performance. All of the musicians are amazing and Raul Malo's voice is so distinctive and expressive.

yeah, great stuff.

love the fact they used to play shows with marilyn manson back in the day.

would've loved to see them live back when i still enjoyed going to shows.

I always enjoy bands that are extremely diverse in their musical styles. The Mavericks are one of those bands. A mixture of country, Latin, Cajun, rock, etc. I don’t understand why they aren’t more popular.

Incidentally another band with lots of different styles is Los Lobos. Years ago they put out a best of album titled “Another East LA Band”. It’s a great introduction to their styles of traditional Mexican, blues, gospel, rock, country, and some that I would describe as, well....just weird. ??

Oh yeah. Raul Malo is one of the better vocalists out there and they put on a hell of a show. Eddie Perez is a Telecaster slinger extraordinaire. Great band.

Eddie Perez is great!
Every concert the Mavericks perform sells out so they are pretty popular with their following---but many people have never heard of them.

Have seen them at Jazz fest both times they’ve played . Very easy to listen to. Cowboy rock.

Both bands toured together last summer. I caught the tour at Chateau St Michelle outside of Seattle. Both bands absolutely crushed it, and their songs crossed over really well.

I love the What a Crying Shame album. The other couple I've heard didn't do much for me. What other albums of theirs are more like Crying Shame?
