Nail his feet down. Prop him up. He would still sing his heart out. Then probably start shooting at people later that night with a handgun.

Still Doin Time
Radio Lover
She’s My Rock

And the most depressing song of all time...

She stopped loving her today.

He is one of the rare ones who has no well known songs I dislike. But, speaking of

, here's a tribute to that, George Jones Talkin' Cell Phone Blues.

GJ and Gene Pitney were both signed to the same small record label, so the marketing boys teamed them up in hopes of expanding their individual audiences. One of their records together, "I've Got Five Dollars And It's Saturday Night", was a minor pop hit.

Here they are having some fun with it on the Jimmy Dean TV show (the very tall Jimmy Dean)

Supposedly the bass player in this clip is Johnny Paycheck

And to think he hated the song when it was presented to him and even mocked it during recording

My mom and dad had his records. My late uncle Lloyd met George Jones when he lived in Vidor , Texas.

George Jones was very talented. No show Jones.

I actually read GJ's autobio some years ago. A classic story:

Jones was on tour w/Buck Owens and they got into an argument over something or other. So one night GJ went on stage and instead of doing his own set list, he did every song in Owens' act.

Jones: "I walked offstage and told him quietly, 'You're on'.

He wasn't amused."

I'd heard this story over the years. Never knew how true it was, but George was definitely crazy enough to do it.

There are reports of two movies in the works.

One is allegedly titled George and Tammy, and the other is No Show Jones. They appear to be backed by rival relatives of the stars. It will be interesting to see if either or both get released. LINK

Some of my all time favorites were Daddy Come Home sung with his daughter and Mobile Bay w/ Merle Haggard. The entire Yesterday’s Wine album with Merle is terrific!

Loved George Jones. There will never be anyone quite like him. Who's gonna fill those shoes?
