The only thing I listened to by Weber that sounds like a direct ripoff is the Phantom of the Opera song. It does sound eerily similar to "Echoes" by Pink Floyd, but as a musician, the descending notes starting with F# is not an uncommon musical idea. It is fairly simple.

Right. It's not even "sections," it's 6 notes. The notes are ones that anyone with a piano could play on accident and put them in a song.

Not in the slightest. I am 22, but I have my opinion on who I think is the best overall artist of my generation. Same way you have yours on this topic of music genius. Just wanted to get an idea.

You have to listen to the entire plays to understand how great they are. Snippets of songs don't mean anything. You could've picked the interlude songs on accident for all I know. Don't judge it based off of that.
This is not at all a troll attempt. Weber is considered by many to be a genius.

ETA: The very first time I heard "Rosemary" from How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, as an ignorant teenager from the sticks, I realized immediately that "Jesus Christ Superstar" had ripped it off. So I would expect no less from a professional composer well-versed in the musical theatre.

Weber is a hack.
The music is shallow, cheap, weak emotional dreck. It appeals to the least thoughtful, least insightful, and least intelligent listeners. He has been creatively bankrupt for many years.
Do yourself a favor and check out some Brahms, Beethoven and Strauss if you like Weber.
Popular =/= good.

Come on man. Complex music doesn't equate to great music either. Some of the greatest songs ever are written based off of a simple tune that people can hum or sing to themselves. Weber is great at composing those. I wasn't trying to put him in a league with the composers you mentioned, I'm just talking in the past 30-40 years. The guy is talented. Just because he may have stolen a few little melodies shouldn't discount the other dozens of great songs he's written.
