Saw him and his band Thursday night at Miller Outdoor Theater in Houston.
Amazing dexterity on the piano for a man that's 76 and his voice is still strong..A treasure..
Great band and his guitarist rocked..
My favorites were:

My buddy who doesn't know a lot about music met him outside of Tips after he went up and introduced the band we were seeing and my friend called him Richard Toussaint

I saw him walking down Esplanade last weekend. He was attracted to the music my friends and I were playing, and he stopped to say hi.

With all due respect to Mr Louis Armstrong, I think that Toussaint may very well be the GOAT when it comes to NOLA music. While a stellar songwriter and performer himself, his true glory is in the recording studio. He is responsible for the best work by Dr John, countless singles throughout the years by a who's who of artists, the slinky funk of Robert Palmer's Sneaking Sally Through the Alley, and perhaps most notably the late 60s/early 70s records by The Meters. Was pissed I missed him at jazzfest this year I went for Springsteen but didn't get out there early enough.

have seen him many times, and he's a huge favorite of mine. Not sure I'd call his legacy greater than Armstrong's, but in terms of modern music, I would concur. I liked his performance this year at JF, except for the songs that Jimmy Buffet sang with him. Not a Buffet fan by any stretch.

Always enjoy seeing him every year at Jazz Fest. Truly a legend.

Saw him in NYC at City Winery. He did a Sunday brunch residency there. Small room and we were right in front the stage. He was great and watching his hands up close was incredible.
