Who is going tonight? This should be a hell of a show!

I'll be at their show in The Woodlands on Saturday. Really looking forward to it.

Sounds like ticket sales have the Shakes. They are pushing free tickets and deep discounts everywhere. Curious to see the pull tonight.

This isn't the best town for concerts. I was a bit surprised CS was their venue. I figure Civic Center would be more appropriate for New Orleans, but that's not the type of tour they are running. What's sad is that a poor turnout could prevent them from returning in the future outside of festivals
ETA: I just looked, and all that's left are GA ticks in the back. Ticket sales apparently have been great, so I don't know what you are talking about. If they are offering deals, then that's just to fill the stairwell leading to the Dome

which is a very large percentage of the overall ticket inventory.
ive noticed the specials and giveaways too -- and normally that makes for a soft crowd at the event

If that's the case then it is poor planning by the Superdome Management. They shouldn't rely on tickets putting people that far away from the stage to be their main sales point. I would not purchase tickets back there; I want to be close enough to see and hear the band. If I wanted to watch on a big screen, I would sit on my couch

in. looking forward to it but wish it was tomorrow night.

my experience is that the seating area starts far short of the stairs, though ive seen seating charts that look like the chairs go back close to the stairs occassionally like you referenced. a substantial portion of the "floor" is standing at every show i have been to there though.
edit-- just looked online, and they are only doing about 30 rows seated for this.

I would like to go but the Shakes aren't worth $50 IMO

$50 is a high amount. I was surprised when tix first went on sale and I saw this. It's ridiculous how $40-$50 has become a norm for basic concerts now.
NIN still charges $50 for tickets, and they put on one of the most incredible shows you will ever see. It's Pink Floyd level greatness. Meanwhile a man and his guitar can charge $100? It's preposterous

And $50 isn't even that much money, but if you're bringin' the lady, it's $125 after fees; a couple rounds of drinks is another $40-50; just gets silly for a run of the mill show.

I'll be there. But I think the lady is much more excited for it than I am.

first time there .... how are the reserved sections in between GA? I'm on the 8th row in D

Surprisingly good. The "pit" area is not very large, so you should be still quite close to the stage. I was row 1 section C for My Morning Jacket last year, and it was great. 7 rows back should not be a big deal.

Fantastic. She is a true performer. It's like taking Janis Joplin, Ella Fitzgerald and Curtis Mayfield and smashing them all up into one modern performer.
She brings much soul to her singing, and it is extremely infectious. I put her up there with Ben Harper as one of my favorite live musicians to see now. She's truly incredible
