yep - two instead of four fngers
like this - he's saying pinky and I was going ring finger - both are good (not sure I'd do middle finger like pic but not hurting anything). Another tip is sometimes rolling your barre finger slightly on edge/side will make it sound a little cleaner (for some shapes) that way it'll still work with a slight arch, instead of forcing it into being perfectly flat. Seems to require less force or clamping down.
(got pic from here - there's more - very quick search don't know much about his instruction)

I never thought to just use 1 finger to press down those 3 strings.
And it never occurred to me that you wouldn't. It's a lot easier that way, imo. Also, as awestruck said, I think it's not super critical that you play the E string for those barre chords. You might find it easier to just play the middle 4 strings. That way if your ring/pinky finger happens to mute the E string, no big deal.

That photo has always pissed me off, for I cannot hyperextend the distal knuckle on my third finger on either of my deformed mitts.

Playing guitar is supposed to be painful. Contorting your hands, using obscure muscle groups in your wrists that cramp, et cetera. Just keep at it. There isn't a magic guitar or a magic technique that makes it easy. Just keep practicing.

Did anyone recommend playing a 2 finger Barre Chord for B and B-flat.
Barre the bottom 5 strings on the 2nd Fret. Then Barre 2,3,and 4 on the 4th Fret.
That's a B.
Move it back to the 1st Fret for a B-flat.
Those are the only Barre Chords that I play.

I've been playing off and on for nearly 15 years. I've never had formal lessons or anything, but have taught myself for the most part. One thing I've always struggled with is bar chords and chords that require me to stretch my fingers across more than 3 frets. I've improved a lot on the bar chord front but I have a hard time with chords like B which require a little stretching. Then there are some chords (non-bar) that stretch across four frets that I just can't seem to reach with my fingers.
Do I have just small hands and need to look at a different guitar that has more narrow spacing between frets, or is my technique just off?
I learned on a Takamine G-series and still use that guitar today.
Practice suspended 2nds in standard tuning. From low E to high E (135xxx); (246xxx); (357xxx) etc..
I have small hands, and I can cover 4 to 5 frets easily on an acoustic or electric.

Wait, are you saying that you only are using your pinky to press on all 3 strings for A shape barre chords?
NM - I think that's what you mean. Just seems difficult to me but I'm sure I can get it down with practice. I've actually never even thought to play A shaped chords without using 3 fingers (shows you how good I am haha). I never thought to just use 1 finger to press down those 3 strings.
I've always played an open A with just my index finger on the 3 strings. I play a B with my index barring the 2nd fret and my ring finger taking care of the 3 strings on the 4th fret. Some people can't do it.
