Similar story for the first time I heard the whole Standing on a Beach and B Sides. April '90 here in Jax. Was driving interstate and tripping. Drove remarkably well. Still remember. That second side is some intense shite for tripping. The Cure has a phenomenal catalog that is so much deeper than many people even come close to realizing.
Funny. I posted here about The Cure a couple of years back and got a good bit less reaction than this thread. I think I put this one in my post.

Here is my take on the Cure.....as if anybody cares. But I was around way back then....The Cure bordered on pop but then had stuff like people have posted that was definitely not pop. Most of us.....and if you think hipsters are critical, most of us were way more critical back then....most of us liked the Cure ok but pushed them away because of their pop sensibilities which really came to the fore on Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. I like them but didn't love them like a lot of other bands.

I saw them live at Austin city limis last year. It was pretty bad. I did enjoy pictures of you though

I can defintitely appreciate that. My first exposure to The Cure was stuff like "Why Can't I Be You", when I was pretty much just a metalhead, and honestly, I thought they sucked. I'm glad I gave them more of a chance. They"ve got some good shite.
