I am going to listen start to finish to The Sickness album this evening as I cut my grass just to spite you. I hope you feel that from afar.

re: 2000’s Hard Rock
Today, that music is largely derided by the hip music officianados, written off as “butt rock”. It’s considered old enough to be dated, but not so old to be vintage, nostalgic, or retro-cool. It’s basically held in the same regard today that hair metal was in 1995.

Meanwhile, it absolutely dwarfs “mainstream” rock music in album sales, streams, and concert ticket sales despite almost zero contemporary radio or pop culture support. Tons of people love this music and still enjoy and support it, yet have zero presence in popular and internet culture. It’s really bizarre when you think about it. The largest spending demo in the music industry is completely invisible to music culture and has zero voice.

For me, I was big into Alter Bridge, Audioslave, Tool, Chevelle, and Shinedown during the mid 2000’s. There’s some of that music that I really love:
Audioslave - Revelations
Priestess - Lay Down
Chevelle - Shameful Metaphors
Alter Bridge - Cry of Achilles
Coheed & Cambria - Welcome Home

No particular order, but my favorite albums from that time period that woulda had those “worn down 2mm rings” on the CD.

Disturbed - 10000 Fists
AFI - Sing the Sorrow
SOAD - Toxicity
Three Days Grace - One-X
Breaking Benjamin - Phobia
APC - Mer de Noms
Linkin Park - Meteora

re: 2000’s Hard Rock
I'm sure a few of these bands have been mentioned, but here are a few songs I remember.

Trapt - Actually had the CD, Headstrong was the top single
Earshot - Wait
Mudvayne - Fall Into Sleep
Crossfade - Cold
Powerman 5000 - Worlds Collide
Taproot - Poem
TV on the Radio - Wolf Like Me... not sure they fit the genre but always liked their stuff. Most people know them from DLZ which was in Breaking Bad.

My 14-yr-old daughter surprised me yesterday blasting The Clincher in the car.

Then I put on Digital Bath (DTs)...she sang-along, knew every word.

I’ve been on a binge of this very genre. Avenged Sevenfold has been my new deep dive this past week.
