The Newsroom is a great show. I watch it every Sunday.
The storyline this season has been much more compelling.

This past episode was by far the best this season. I am in the minority when I say that I prefer the use of real stories than the fictional Genoa. I do like that this year is a bit more balanced.
Not to hijack, but I hope they do a spin off type show with sports stories a la SportsNight. Would be great.

For the first time ever, i think I actually liked Jane Fonda at the end of the episode this week.

My question is how the hell do they NOT resign/get fired? Seems like an impossible situation to me.

If they resign or are fired it would be an admission from ACN that it was a organizational failure instead of Dantanas fault.

I called the shot clock to my wife when they first mentioned framing out the game at the beginning

It was pretty obvious that the game was going to give it away. I dont know how he wouldnt think of that when he was doing it.

The Valenzuela interview seemed less plausible to me
I understand the point they made, but still didnt seem like he should have concurred with what he was being fed
Eta: any of you find it a crazy coincidence that the use of chemical weapons happens to be in the news this week

While Genoa may seem fictional, it's based on Operation Tailwind at CNN in ~2000 or so, which had a similar gas story from Vietnam with a General who also disputed how his interview was portrayed. There was also a retraction by CNN, producer firings, and wrongful termination lawsuit, just as in the Newsroom story. (Interesting tie-in to Jane Fonda/Ted Turner)

I liked season 1 but season 2 is much better IMO. Making up news stories gives them more artistic license than having to rehash IRL current events. Olivia Munn has really surprised me. I always found her attractive but she's a much better actress than I gave her credit for. Patel is also money.

"It's just not good any more."
It's very good.

I loved that it was a Kentucky game that they used.
And this season has been pretty good IMO. I enjoyed last season but this season has been far and away better. I know they pretty well overhauled the writing staff so that probably has something to do with it.

I was 13 in 2000 so I can't say I was paying much attention to international affairs at that point. Thanks for pointing it out though.
