Maude

This is one of tGOAT theme songs. Classic lyrics by the Bergmans:

Lady Godiva was a freedom rider,
She didn't care if the whole world looked,
Joan of Arc with the Lord to guide her,
She was a sister who really cooked

Isadora was the first bra-burner,
Ain't ya glad she showed up? (Oh yeah!)
And when the country was fallin' apart,
Betsy Ross got it all sewed up.

And sung soulfully by Donny Hathaway. The theme song was one of the three good things about Maude, Adrienne Barbeau being the other two.

Orange Is The New Black... or maybe it's just the all around worst intro.

The show, the song, or both? I’m gonna go with both.

The Batman theme is nice but the Hillbillies theme is an outright classic, with some impressive pickin' from banjo maestro Earl Scruggs.

It's been a long time, but I recall the theme song to Alice being kind of cringy.

Justified has to be up there. For a show of such a high caliber to have a theme song of such a shite caliber is astounding.

The theme song and intro reel is so bizarre and off putting it’s probably hard for some people to actually move past.

No way. Doctor Who has awesome music.

I don't know about worst theme song , but Lamb Chops ending song was torture.

"This is the song that never ends.
Yes, it goes on and on, my friends.
Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was,
And they'll continue singing it forever just because..."

"Batman" and "Two and a Half Men" have both been mentioned, here. Regardless of how you feel about both themes, it's fun to imagine the brainstorming sessions in the recording studio that led to their creations, considering their lyrics.

I don't understand the hate for the "King of Queens" theme; it's practically the average American marriage summarized in eight verses.

I cast my vote for the span when Steve Miller's "Jungle Love" served as the theme for "Everybody Loves Raymond." An okay song and a great sitcom, in my view, but the two didn't gel at all.

OMG, Kafka! I'd never heard that theme before. It's laughably terrible! You'd swear they were trying to write the worst theme song they could imagine. "Dick Tracy" takes the cake, here.

What's jarring about the "Family Ties" theme is the triple-negative in the lyric, "...And there ain't no nothing we can't love each other through..." Sha-la-la-laa.
