I think it's a movie where you're supposed to enjoy the journey....not so much the ending. He doesn't go out on top or find Jesus....oh well.

Though I did hear he was a lot quicker to roll over on everyone in real life.

Basically it means all good things come to an end. Belfort had a life that was too good to be true, but in the end, he should have realized that everything was going to come crashing down, which is exactly what happened. Now he has to live the rest of his life as a nobody.

They went to jail. That's enough closure for me.

1. You are never as smart as you think you are. He threw away numerous chances to avoid his fate. He could have taken a deal, no jail time, kept most of his money. He threw it away. He tried to bribe an FBI agent. He reneged on a deal. He thought he could take on the feds in braggadocios fashion and win.

2. There is no something for nothing and you wind up paying for everything at some point. He only served 22 months in jail and is in trouble again for reneging on restitution. He hasn't learned, is not remorseful, and unless he goes to jail for quite some time, he hasn't learned a damn thing. 22 months in jail to him was a speed bump.

This movie was a very good way to pump up a sales team. We took our sales team to see it and productivity jumped about 30%. If you have alpha sales people this movie will pick their morale up. Thats the lesson I learned.

Hopefully that 30% wasn't from ill-gotten gains.

Youd rather a cheesy disney ending of him playing catch with his kid at the end than a real story?

Why does their have to be a lesson? Not all "bad guys" are caught or remorseful

The lesson was beat over your head throughout the movie. Greed begets greed which leads to you losing everything. Belfort lost his millions, lost his job, lost his wife, lost his kids, and lost his freedom (for a while). Now he's stuck doing "how to" seminars in fricking New Zealand. If you look at his eyes during the final scene, they're all bloodshot and tired looking. He's either still getting high as frick or he's completely broken down.

All the bad shite that happened to him was a direct result of his insatiable need for more. More drugs, more money, more sex.

He did exactly what Mark Hanna told him not to do: implode. There's the lesson.

I didnt get that feeling at all. He had a look of "im still untouchable, im still winning" on his face. He was happy, he found a new group of schmucks to make a fortune on

All I know is, after the movie if someone told me:

You can live like Belfort for 10 years if you are willing to go to prison for 3

I'd do it in a fricking heart beat...

This movie did nothing but glorify Jordan and his crazy arse drug filled life. There is no moral and nothing to learn. This movie drawn from the book is him bragging about his rich life.
