Zelda is no where near the same vibe as Mario but the audience is there.

If they go toward a LOTR style fantasy epic theh would make bank.

That's a brilliant idea.

Think Lord of the Rings if done right.

That’s the whole problem. It will be difficult to make a movie that feels distinct from being a LOTR knock off.

Brand recognition helps but only so much.

I'm not as optimistic as most about Zelda's chances with an adaptation. It's not weighty enough to pull off a fantasy epic. You would need some damn good writers involved.

Metroid on the other hand seems like a great opportunity for a series or mini series. A space opera with some good CGI for the suit and a great actress for Zero Suit Samus would be amazing. A bounty hunter traveling through space with a back story involving Ridley.

Metroid would be an incredible HBO Max series done right.

Ridley involved is a must.

This is one of those animated movies adults are way more excited to see than kids

I wouldn't want to meet Phantoon coming over the middle.

Would be. And Zelda can be as kiddie or adult as they want. Versatile story and characters.

I was telling some young whippersnappers about Star Fox the other day.

Metroid would be better as a horror movie anyway.

Agreed. That’s the only way Metroid could be adapted without being extremely cheesy. There’s too many little things that make the Metroid franchise what it is that just wouldn’t translate well (morph ball, constant equipment/weapon upgrades, etc.).

But I could envioning it as a badass movie if they could harness and blend together the best elements of Ridley Scott and James Cameron’s Alien films.

I think you’re more likely to see more Mario movies.

With that after credits scene, we'll be getting another Mario. But Nintendo knows what people want, and I'd be surprised if a Zelda movie, or series, wasn't currently in the works.

Chrono Trigger…then never release a proper sequel to it.
