I remember that. That's why I think it's a good comparison. I was just curious if the protectors of "continuity" in this thread were as bothered by that particular detail.
Personally, I was offended that Craig was the first sour-faced Bond who constantly has a look on his face like he's attempting Blue Steel while sucking on a Tearjerker. But 2 of his 3 Bond movies have been among the best in the franchise's history so I'm OK with it now.

A black man would stand out too much for him to be a spy in a mostly white country. Spies should be able to blend in.

To the OP question: No slur intended, but why would we want to see a black James Bond? It would be totally inconsistent with the role and the source. Why not a Mexican James Bond, or an Asian James Bond or a Swedish James Bond? Because it wouldn't fit.
