I just finished Season 8, it was great, back to the good ole formula of a great overlying story arc, demons and angels ect...

The end though, they don't go through with "curing" Crowley and shutting the gates of hell because they don't want Sam to die? I mean they've both been to Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory and escaped, why exactly are they worried about Sam dying?

If he goes to Heaven he may have some problems, but it's so chaotic up there, and enough angels are on their side I'm sure he could find a way back. If he goes to hell, I mean the king of hell would be gone, he's already been to hell and back once this season, plus all the Demons would be freaking out over being locked in there it would be crazy unorganized down there. I'm sure he could figure it out.

It's funny but at this point in the show it's hard for me to accept them not doing anything because of death because it's been proven to be not permanent.... Great season overall though, I'm excited for Season 9

I think it's you that keeps starting threads throwing subtle jabs at supernatural isn't it?

I'm not throwing jabs, I really like this show. I mean shite I've watched 8 seasons of 20+ episodes, if I didn't like it I wouldn't be staying up till 2AM marathoning it on Netflix.

Sometimes there are just things that don't really make sense, like Demons not being able to go through walls, and Sam not shutting the gates of hell for fear of death

yeah this was pretty unbelievable. their whole existence has been consumed with fighting demons and trying to rid the world of them. they finally succeed and can end it all but wait lets not do that sam will die.

they quick to sacrifice themselves for each other. sam went to hell voluntarily so did dean

After all the angels fell they lost any potential allies in Heaven. I don't think most of the angels liked them anyway, especially Sam.

1. What I am talking about was before the Angels fell
2. Obviously they lost their allies in heaven since none of the Angels are in heaven

Well yea, but as has been pointed out by many angels, many of them are still loyal to Castiel, I'm not saying it would be easy to get out of Heaven but I feel like he could figure it out. And shite every other time they've been to Heaven God got them out, who knows maybe he'd do it again?

Okay well 2nd episode of Season 9 they go all out into an obvious trap facing probable death to save 2 people from demons...
They could have just locked them all away and they wouldn't have to risk their life to save one or two people all the time...

They don't kill Crowley BC if Sam dies and goes to hell, the gates are locked. There's no coming back.

not worth the risk.

It's why they took the risk to be hunters

Says who? The gates are locked for Demons, it didn't say for souls. And if they are locked for everyone than he wouldn't get into hell because the gates would already be locked

The gates wouldn't be able to close WITHOUT him in hell first.

They didn't really take a risk being hunters. They were forced into the lifestyle at a young age.

and also..

If Sam or Dean went to hell they would be tortured for the rest of eternity. Although both of them have been through this already (Dean when he was there for a while and Sam when he was stuck in a cage with Micheal\Lucifer) only Dean really remembers what he went through and Sam's memory of it was kind of sort of erased, it is still not something they would want to go through again.

they had every chance to stop and CHOSE not to. that in itself is chosing to take the risk. now, being hunters their only job is to rid the world of demons and monsters. they had a chance to rid the world of one of those things and pussed out.

No one knows where God is. He's apparently gone from heaven so he probably couldn't help them.
