Just saw there's a remake on HBO.

Loved the movie...but I really loved Yul Brenner in it: "sloppy with your drink"

Wonder how it will do on remake. May have to get HBO.

The cast is as good as it gets.

I've never seen the original, but the trailer for the remake looks incredible. VERY excited about it.

Is it a movie or series? Looks fantastic in the previews.

Looks great but I still don't really know what it's about other than droids and a theme park.

It's a series.
As the poster said, though, the movie was about robots at an amusement park. The series will have to go beyond that, one would think. Hopkins is the creator of the robots/park in the remake, so they might do a lot with him. That character was minor in the original.

False. It could be better with Morgan Freeman.

Well that makes sense because Jonathan Nolan is an executive producer and one of the directors for the series.

From reading a little bit more about the show I've gathered that they've flipped the perspective from the old movie. The movie focused on how humans perceived the "world" while the show will focus more on the robots or "hosts."

When does this show actually air? It seems like threads have been popping up for about it for a very long time.

Sounds like Westworld is going to be epic. Here is a good article/review about it (the author has only seen the first 3 episodes out of 10).

Yeah the cast definitely has my attention. Ed Harris, Anthony Hopkins, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Evan Rachel Wood, etc. Should be well acted at the very least. I know there was some talk about the contracts they had to sign in terms of how graphic (specifically sexually) the show could get. Hopefully it doesn't overwhelm the plot line and acting.

Show looks great, but I will have a tough time taking a McPoyle seriously.
