Finally watched the last two episodes today. Definitely a step up from the rest of the season.
It really does seem like Skarsgaard was built to play Pennywise. Everything he does with the character is so good.
The show definitely is silly at times and that takes me out of it. But all in all I enjoyed this season.
I saw someone mention that this was a sequel and not a prequel to the movies, but I don’t think that’s accurate, right? It’s just that IT has access to all times at once and knows that Marge’s kid (Richie) is one of the ones who eventually him. I.e. these events definitely take place before the movie.
A lot (LOT) of the acting in this show was pretty terrible. Even the adults. With Halloran as the obvious exception; he was really good.
While I don’t think the show is overly good, it definitely was cool/interesting enough. And I’m interested to see what they do with previous times as mentioned on previous pages. I just hope they change enough things so that it’s not completely repetitive. But I’ll stick with the show for the three seasons, or whatever it’s supposed to be.

Definitely the Prequel to the movies. Explains how PennyWise came about and how he ended up in the sewers and that well in the old house.

Right. I agree. I’m talking about this post a few pages ago, which was upvoted a ton:

I was actually very impressed that they were able to reveal this whole show is a sequal to the movies and not a prequal. Him explaining that he is omnipresent and time is not the same for him was actually well done IMO. He is just going back in the past to try to kill the lineage of the loser club. Of all the "time travel" shite hollywood has put out, this was the best IMO. IT being an outer world entity obviously helps making the logic more digestable.
I was confused by it. And then also confused as to why it was upvoted so much (9-1).

I wouldnt say it's definitely a prequel. The series hints that Pennywise went into this particular timeline specifically because of the events in 1989.

Certainly a clever way up set up season two and three.

Yea, I don't feel comfortable calling Derry a prequel or a sequel. I think Pennywise isn't bound by time and is probably just as confused as we are as to what happens first.

I can't stand the acting from the teens. In my opinion they over do it.

There has definitely been a consorted effort in the last 20 years of the media portraying Whites as being the bad guys.

The acting and dialogue by the child actors is some of the most awkward and cringe stuff I’ve ever seen. It’s like someone took an AI generated script of how Gen Alpha kids talk on TikTok and put it into a 1950s-setting show.
The 1990 miniseries wasn’t perfect but the acting by the kids was much more realistic and authentic to how children in the 1950s would have talked. It also felt more believable as a show that took place in that time period.
Muschietti should have never been allowed to touch IT from a directing standpoint. Dude sucks arse at both writing and directing. WB could have gotten a more psychological and deep movie if they gave Fukanaga more creative control.
