It sounds like WB was all in for 200m, but Cruise wanted to push itnto 275. If it's that important to Cruise he should have just put up the additional $75m himself and moved forward, no?

TC wanted to kill the project by pricing it out. Liman is supposedly a handful and the whole thing sounds problematic. And my guess is they didn't love Armas in the role, so he killed it.
And this was not last minute in regard to production, because the level of planning and builds would have already hit a75 to 100m spend. Sounds like it just fell through, instead of being scrapped weeks before filming.
