Just finished watching it for first time as well.
I was disappointed for some of season 6 with some of the storylines especially with the 9/11 stuff and the gay storyline
Couldn't stand Joe Patoliano as Ralphie and Jackie Aprile Jr (how dumb can you be)
It's ashame Livia Soprano actress died in real life
They could have at least let Christopher and Adrian get married

It is my favorite show and I think it's the GOAT. I do think it gets repetitive toward the end. I also don't think it has the same "arc" for Tony as we had for say Don Draper or Walter White. Tony's pretty much the same guy at the end he was at the beginning.

The series isn't perfect, but it is my favorite. It has a bit of everything. And James Gandolfini and Edie Falco are among the best to ever do it. I'm re-watching Mad Men with my wife (her first time) and I just keep thinking how much better and how much more range Gandolfini has than John Hamm.

I thought he was great. Incredible performance by him.

Season 6A is the weakest season, but I think 6B makes up for it and is a strong ending. Unlike other series that end in spectacular fashion, I love that the sopranos ends with a realistic “life goes on”approach. Not all of the storylines end in a definitive conclusive way, but more or less like we the audience are going away and whatever is left of our characters will move on with or without us.

The opening theme is horrible so nice to be able to skip through that

It is one of the most iconic intros in television history. Who hasn't set their phone alarm/ringer to "Woke up this morning" at some point in their life.

Well there was a ton of little throwaway ones (and the Faux Scorsese, which is always fun), but the card game alone had Frank Sinatra, Jr., David Lee Roth and LT all playing themselves.

Some of the most extensive ones were fun, Ben Kingsley and Lauren Bacall, although they flirted with becoming parody. For my money, the Favreau/Bernhard/Garofolo one did become parody (not in a good way), although not disastrously so. Just a little more restraint would have made that a non-issue.

He was, and that’s ok. Maybe it was the point. After all the dreams and therapy sessions and nightmares, he was what he was. He and his core soldiers never changed and never got out. Vito being an obvious example of one who did try.

Isn't that the point though, I mean they even explicitly have Christofa say "I've got no arc" as in they end up just where they started. Tony was able to turn psychiatry into a tool for himself that helped him navigate the underworld more efficiently.

Concur. Most annoying character on the show. Mostly due to his voice.

The guy that played Ritchie Aprile came across as a true badass. Would have preferred they swapped characters so that guy got more screen time.

Also, the broad that played Tracee had about the finest body I have ever seen on the screen. Holy damn...

And the Bing had better strippers than any club I have been in.

"Please leave your phone number, with my schedule I do not have time to look up phone numbers?" I loved the Ralphie character, brought comedy to what was a truly vile human even in the midst of some of the more vile within society, and he stood out.

I think Tony and don share a lot, don really isn’t any different at the end of the show either.

The mad men show runner was one of the main writers on The Sopranos. Once I figured that out I started really noticing how similar the shows really are. The dark humor especially.

I enjoyed watching Tone kill him with his bare hands.

The character that really made me say "WTF" was Janice and how she supposedly pulled both Ritchie and Ralphie. The insomniac nutjob was closer to reality to for her. Why the hell would those two guys be attracted to her gelatinous arse?

I get she's Tone's sister, but if anything it would seem to make guys stay away from her. Other than making things difficult for Tony of course.

Guess it was necessary to keep her involved in the show somehow.

Mafia pedigree, she had no limits in bed, and you were putting yourself on the same level or showing dominance over your boss (her brother).

I wonder if they could go back in time they would do a better job of writing in more characters in the first season or two?

That way it wouldn’t seem as silly when they introduce a new relative/best friend to be killed each later season that hadn’t really ever been mentioned.

Richie is ugly, ex con and like 5’3. Janice was about the best he could do. Apparently they banged back in the day too

Ralphie public relationships were political

In the mafia, has cash and is a badass.

He could get better trim than fatass Janice.

Would have prevented a couple bullets in the chest as well.

*Tone's reaction when he walks in that scene is great.

I love the opening theme. When that shite kicked off with the credits at the end of saints. It was sadly one of the better parts of that movie.
