A quick wiki search will tell you most of your answer

But Yes

Calamity Jane
Sol Star
Plenty of other real life figures pop in and out of the show

Yes both real people.

Hearst was a real person and partner of the family that owned Hearst publishing..: the parent company of a lot of big newspapers

I don’t know if Al said cocksucker every other word.

Almost all of the people in the show are real but a lot of the events didn’t happen. A lot of the characters had none to maybe a little conversation to each other in real life.

Almost all the main characters in the show were creative impressions of people who actually lived .... same names even but other than the killing of Wild Bill the rest is pure fantasy.

Now, there really was the hardware store and the saloons and all of that and by those names. Deadwood is a fun visit .... total tourist trap but fun and there is some good skiing around there too.

Calamity Jane, Al Swearengen, Seth Bullock, Sol Star, Charlie Utter, Tom Nuttall, E.B. Farnum, Reverend Henry Smith, Dan Dority, Johnny Burns and George Hearst were all real life characters.

This article from history.net has a little more info on some of the real life figures.

real deadwood characters

Aside from Cy Tolliver which major characters were entirely fictional? Maybe Joanie, I'm not sure. I'm sure there were others but most were real, if not accurate.
