Boogie Nights is far superior than Almost Famous.

It really is. Besides being a better crafted film, it doesn't have the self-indulgence that you can get from an autobiography.

Not that Almost Famous isn't a great movie, both films deserved their Oscar noms. I just don't feel the need to see it again, while I've watched Boogie Nights repeatedly.

That's the best part of the movie. Hate her character.

The Sister Christian scene in Boogie Nights is top notch. One of the most tense climax to a movie ever.

I always recall the confrontation scene in True Romance when I watch this scene (and vice versa) - they really do mirror each other to a significant degree.

Boogie Nights sucked except for Heather Graham on roller skates.

Sister Christian scene

That guy plays a gakked out, kimono-wearing, gun-wielding, drug-dealing 80’s L.A. fig (nttawwt) as well as anyone one in the history of gakked-out, kimono-wearing, gun-wielding L.A. figs.

As an aside: Mark Wahlberg’s list of roles is pretty damn stout.

That scene in Almost Famous where Kate Hudson tells the kid she wants to go to Morocco and asks the kid "you wanna come?"... was hypnotic to me

Almost Famous made a bunch of late 90s teens nostalgic for the 60s/70s

Bingo. And I love it.
