Not as lame as leia waking up in space with no oxygen to use force she never had or trained to use.

Not in my world. Star Wars is only the OT and nothing else.
And Andor. I fully embrace that too.

Vader's suit kept him alive and the lightning ruined his suit's electronics is my guess.

And furthermore, Vader is helmetless/ventilator-less in his chambers during the Empire Strikes Back, but in Return of the Jedi, dies without the helmet when Luke reluctantly took it off.
Ultimately, I don't care. I love the OT.
I remember in one of the EU books it was describing Vader's thoughts being able to sit in his chamber without his helmet on.

Palpatine put him in that suit for several reasons. One of them was it made him incredibly vulnerable to his Sith lightening attack.

I never saw this as remotely lazy. He was a machine and the force lightning fried his life support. Plenty of lazy other plots in other spots but it made complete sense to me.

I always assumed the electricty took out his life support. The machines that kept him alive failed.
But if you had the force as powerful as Vader, you would think he would be able to absorb it like Obi Wan did with the old guy Count Dooku or whatever. But then the Emperor tumbled little Yoda with it so the Emperor electricity must of been some bad shite.
