I'm diggin manwich's tower idea. A couple trips to the wal-mart DC and you'd be able to live in the tower for months without going out (in the event zombies invaded you)
Have steel gates for the entrances to the tower and any zombies that tried to attaack would wander off or die of starvation before you'd ever have to leave...

The tower is far more illogical then the moat. Towers and tunnels would require huge amounts of resources to construct and just trying to wait them out isn't going to work. They can just sit at the gate and wait for you.

How are they going to construct the tower?? Thats going to be quite difficult along with digging and supporting the tunnels so they dont cave in. You will be dead within a week just building it much less adding zombies to the equation.
If thats as good as the moat people can do I may need to rethink this alliance. I thought you people had your shite together? Surely you cant expect our badassery to go unpaid? Our services just may have to go elsewhere until you have sufficient vagina.

The moat doesn't care if zombies come or not. They fall in a 20ft hole...we can come and go as we please without them stopping us. A moat only blocks us in if another group waits outside for us. In which case...we kill them from within our house with our guns sniping them in the head.

The moat is jsut as illogical if you really think about it. How big of a moat are you making? What's the diameter of it? You have to have a big enough area inside the moat to hold everyone comfortably. That will take some digging. Then you gotta fill the moat with thousands of sharp metal objects, which will take time and resources.
Also, what happens if you get overrun by a massive group of zombies? They won't spread out completely around they'll run in a mob at you. The first 75 or so will get spiked and die but that would just create a zombie body bridge the rest could walk/crawl over....

Any zombie group that size is going to frick you up no matter what. If they're that big light the moat on fire once the first wave hits and get ready for combat.
